The Polar Bear Safari video

One of the most exciting safaris we offer, is the Polar Bear Safari.  This is truly a unique experience, which takes you up into Canada’s tundra region, where we search for the massive bears.  The feeling of seeing a polar bear in the wild is difficult to explain, at best, I can describe it as a real privilege – you feel honoured to be in the presence of such a magnificent animal.  The photographic opportunities are awesome, with several bears converging on the same area at the same time, meaning (1) you have a really good chance at finding the bears, and (2) there is a great chance of photographing the bears interacting at close quarters!

The Polar Bear Safari 2012: Day 2

Setting out in a light snowfall, we had another great day, which included 4 new bear sightings; one of the bears spent a good hour standing over a seal’s breathing hole waiting for his meal to pop out of the ice – hats off to his patience.  We also spent some time checking out a wrecked ship, that now stands completely iced in, and made for some interesting images.  The Northern lights were out again in full force, and we took a short trip out of town to maximise the photo opportunities – well worth it!

Major sightings of the day:

  • Four different polar bears
  • An amazing two hour northern lights display
